  • difference between clone stamp and healing brush

Hey, im new to retouching pictures. I've used photoshop for a long time, but learning retouching has given me a lot more tools to use. The clone stamp and the healing brush seem to be pretty similar and i can't figure out what the difference is

found the answer to my own question. Here is a video that explains it

clone stamp tool does an exact copy of where you cloned from
healing brush does the exact same thing, except for it blends the edges when its done. For a lot of cases that would be better, but for things like hair and straight lines it wouldn't work so well since it would noticably soften the edges where you don't want

But you can adjust for that in the brush tool palette.

well, I have searched the forums here, but haven't found anything regarding this problem...I know everyone have encountered this problem is some degree...

WHat can you do with healing brush when it smudges details?

I don't know how to even get remotely close to a good result......

      clone stamp crosshairs disappeared
      by ronfya
      Hi there,

I have a little but annoying problem.

The sampling crosshairs from the clone stamp tool & the healing brush just disappeared. That means I cannot see where I am sampling from when using these tools.

Does somebody know how do I get it back ?...

      Photoshop 7.0 Question
      by wideyed
Hi Gang, Just been playing around with Photoshop 7.0 and i cant seem to find any way of using the Healing brush or Patch tool on a blank layer, like you can with the Rubber stamp tool. Has anyone found a way of doing this? Would seem to limit the usefulness of these to otherwise very handy tools....
