replied to Help with faded photo?
I first used auto levels and made a layer. Duplicated twice. Desaturated one of them. Used hue mode to blend. This makes it red and grey mixture. Blended this with the original layer. Applied Unsharp mask....

Nice job everyone. I feel that in future Quilt challenges, we should have a theme which everyone follows. In this image, I made it a night scene, gina has made a monochrome and some others have adopted a artistic approach. This way, the final picture still looks like an ensemble of unrelated images,...

Gina had introduced a strange looking creature in the middle of a park... So I had to call the police and the local newsmen
It was too tempting to add more and more to the alien story, but I had to stop. Nice work everyone. Count how many times we have flipped the image!!

doug, exactly what I was asking.
A new post or an edit add some new info to the thread. People should be aware that a change occurred(atleast in some cases, like the art-tag example i gave).Does my reasoning sound correct?

    Old messages edited

I observed that a new edit done to an old message does not appear in the "Last 24 hours" search. I usually click on this link in the floating window that appears on the left of the screen. When Art-tag status is updated in the thread during the progress of the game, it does not appear through...

    Any one from India?

Hi, I am from bangalore. Curious to know if any of you is from India. I could see a couple of indian sounding names, though not sure. If so, from which part of the country and are you into retouching as a profession/hobby?

Jch, Great work, I am going to try replicating that effect.

Mine is a sketch. This procedure works well for most images in Gimp.
1)Dup,desaturate, reduce the o/p levels (pull the right slider towards left till the image becomes barely visible.Pull the left slider towards right...

  • Attempted a sketch for the first time. Added noise and textures to the de-saturated image and merged with the original in overlay mode.

Beautiful work from everyone, I especially liked the water surface with vortex around the duck and the whale tail. In the second round the pearls changed the look of the image, nice effect.

I added the girl on the duck.this was taken from some pony riding photo, I had to paint a little,...

some solutions when you don't have layers, curves and levels.

    1) I haven't used PE, so this reply is based on what you have described. If you have selection tool(even free hand select will do), use that along with brightness/contrast.

2)If you have windows, it comes with...
