Impact Digital NYC
Has anyone worked with Impact Digital / Industrial Color? I see their posts on job sites, but employee reviews of the company are terrible! I'm curious if anyone had a good experience with them or if I should avoid working with them.

Re: Unfriendly demanding client with zero personal
You can put less effort into pleasantries... as long as you do the work he wants and are getting paid for the work in full, and expectations remain realistic. You don't have to be best-buds.

Re: NYC Retouch Industry
Ha... I'm with Benny.
The range of rates are so broad that it's hard to pin it down to an average rate for any of these. I'm guessing you're just starting out or you'd already know how to bs your way to the wage you want. It is quite the racket and...

Re: Cheap retouch service from india the ugly trut
Retouch 26... can you give some names of the companies you are describing? I know several retouching studios here in NYC that outsource to India to make masks. I always wondered how the heck it was possible to get the turnaround of a...

Re: Assisting well known photographers
You need to get yourself some experience and some connections first. As you meet more people, they can give you some leads for better work. It takes time and patience. Check this site out. I stumbled upon it a little while ago...

Re: Working for free
Screw working for free. Especially if it's commercial work. I recently ditched a place because they wanted an average of 60+ hours a week for the price of 40 hours. I definitely knew I was getting taken advantage of and left. I knew other places to work that would...

Re: pdf portfolio
I decided to go with putting the before and after side by side in the pdf instead of as a rollover. I discovered if the interactive pdf is opened in Preview, the rollovers won't work, however hyperlinks do work. If opened in Acrobat, the rollovers will work, and not...

Duggal?
Has anyone here ever worked for Duggal in NYC? I saw a crappy employee-review over on Glassdoor and was wondering if it's really so bad.
Just curious.

pdf portfolio
So I've been messing around with creating an interactive pdf portfolio in InDesign to send off in emails. Although there is a way to make rollovers work, I am becoming frustrated that not all pdf readers can handle it. I'm tired of things not working in the pdf version when viewed in Preview by a client....

Re: Working for free
I love the ads that list endless skill sets and demand "must be expert at" then at the end offer $15-$20 per hour. If I took the time effort and money to gain experience in 3D rendering, 2D retouching and illustration, web design, print experience, and animation......

Re: Comparing work environments in New York City
I hear ya... I've decided to stay freelance. It's just not worth 50-60 hour weeks for the price of 40. F that noise. That said, a top rate for a high-end retoucher in NYC could top out around $150 an hour... but that is...

Re: where did you find your first retouch job
It was Craigslist back in the day for me. But there are better options now... try Indeed, Simply Hired, Glassdoor, LinkedIn... so many job sites. Once you get going as a Junior Retoucher and get some more experience under your belt, you could...

Re: Business Card as a retoucher
Moo looks cool. I like the idea of the mini cards. I say get cards that will fit in a wallet, if you're handing them directly to a person. If mailing, then do post card size.

Recom Farmhouse
Has anyone here ever worked with Recom Farmhouse in NYC. They pop up on the radar for possible gigs now and then, but I'm usually suspicious if I see their ads on Craigslist.
