Crop image. It can't be this hard
I'm not new to imaging software, but I recently got a PS subscription for the purpose of editing some old family pictures.
I open a picture in PS. It has some jagged edges and a whitish band across the bottom. I select the crop tool and scribe around the part I want to keep. I hit the...

Re: Can't draw on layers
I know what you mean. Often I find the answer as I try to describe a problem - it didn't work this time, but you all have given me good advice and place to start looking for how I created the problem....

Re: Can't draw on layers
Thanks Ken, I'll try that. I remember that I had a selection at one point but I thought I dismissed it. I'm trying to recall to memory the various shortcuts. It'll come to me eventually...

Can't draw on layers
I started with a photo and applied a layer mask, did the white/black thing to remove background. Then I option clicked on the mask icon to show the white/black mask.
I tried to paint on the mask to clean up some places I missed. It wouldn't let me paint - painted, but nothing showed up...

Re: PS CC for $9.99/month
Thanks Murray, I'll keep that in mind if I keep using it. I'm just a hobbiest so spending that much money doesn't make fiscal sense
I've used Photoshop Elements in the past so if I need a more permanent solution, I can get it...

re-introduction and helpful hint
Hi all, I'm baaaaack!
I was a member here in the early days and learned a lot from you folks. It's nice to see some of those members still here and still helping newcomers.
I joined when Photoshop 6 was big news (how long ago was that) but I changed computers, couldn't...

Re: Christmas is coming...
Take some time later today relax and to watch the Grey Cup game. It will be played here in Regina where current temp is -7*C. The temp at game time might get above 0*C - yikes!
And being busy is not a bad problem to have when you're...

Re: A Welcome Note To New Members (and anyone else
Technically I'm not new, but it's been awhile. I first joined RetouchPRO way back in the early days (I was using Photoshop 6) soon after Doug first set up the forum.
I learned a ton of stuff, did some amazing (for me) restorations...

Re: Any iPad artists here?
Very nice!
I admire the folks who make Procreate. There is an update. When they uploaded it, it had a bug. I was able to document steps leading to the unwanted behavior and they had a fix posted the next day.
I...

Re: Any iPad artists here?
Well done! I have Sketchbook pro, but haven't spent enough time with it to do anything arty.
I'm really liking Procreate. iDraw and Sketchtime are also good....

Re: Any iPad artists here?
Thanks Craig. I've tried some of those and I like ArtRage. There are lots of good tutorials for it.
I found Procreate after I posted here and I love it. When you draw Zentangles, you need to turn the paper while you draw. Procreate is fast and...

Re: Any iPad artists here?
Thanks for the advice and encouragement Stroker. I've put the art supplies away for the time being because I'm going to be entertaining and I don't have a separate room to leave stuff out.
My favorite thing is Zentangle - sort...

Re: Any iPad artists here?
Thanks for the DA link. I keep forgetting to look there.
The best app to suit me is Procreate and I have one of those aluminum styluses. I'm having fun with it.
