    Re: FFT Banding

I found the solution here -

Mr Wheeler puts a 15% canvas around the image, then does a content aware fill of the extra...

    FFT Banding

Many times when I use the FFT filter I end up with banding across the top and bottom of the photo.

I usually apply a 1" grey border around the photo before applying the filter, but it just doesn't seem to stop this banding.

Has anyone experienced this and been able...

Thanks Repairman and Carol. While I appreciate your efforts, those were there the results I was getting with all my fiddling about. OlBaldy come channel guru, you still around? What would you suggest?

    Re: Bad Yellow Photo

Thanks Doug. I did try the black/white/grey threshold layer stuff. Got lots of weird stuff. I just think this is so "yellow" there has to be a counter action to it. What that is, I don't know.

    Bad Yellow Photo

    Hi
Well I've tried all my methods and still end up with a crappy outcome. I think this should be "apply" channel or something to kill the orange/yellow. What would other people suggest to restore colour? Just a basis from which to start with a suggested workflow. Thanks...

    Re: Colour out of whack!

While I don't like to alter original photos I think in this case that changing the background colour as has been done by some of you is the solution. It seems to be the bulk of the problem. And as you've all suggested, to go for selective recolouring here and...

    Re: Colour out of whack!

Thanks for your time philbach. The discolourisation of this photo certainly had me stumped and still does. I redid the restoration and came out with the same result as my first. I remember my son's shirt as being quite bright - royal blue, red and white. And...

    Re: Colour out of whack!

Thanks for your replies. This is a photo of my son and father-in-law taken in 1975 or thereabouts. I've searched for and uploaded the original file although I couldn't find the unflattenen version and can't remember what I did to turn it into such as ghastly...

    Colour out of whack!

    Hi all,
I've worked on this photo, but I can't get the colours right. I've checked the skin colours and they seem about right but it all looks too icky green. Any suggestions?...

    Color Space Headache

I'm about to splurge out on a new system, desktop, monitor......but one question bugs me. If all printers print in sRGB why bother with a monitor that does RGB? Why bother with the extra gamut? Labs print in sRGB, most desktop printers do that too. Why pay the extra $, nearly double, for a viewing...

    Re: Bad Mould Old Neg

Thanks crazyfly1. This pixel/edge-cloudiness in negs happen so often to me, and I think I'm doing something wrong in the original scan, although I didn't scan this one. I can do high res scans and still end up with crap. I have a Epson 4990. I did have the next...

    Bad Mould Old Neg

    Hi,
I've attached my before/after of this restoration I have just done.
I always get stuck on photos like this which have lots of scratches/mould. I didn't do the original scan, unfortunately, as usually these old negs give up one good channel and so you can avoid the blue channel with...

    CTEIN Scratch Removal

    Hi,
This is an old thread that can be found here.

I have tried with not much success to follow these instructions to apply them to a badly scratched photo I have. I also have studied CTEIN's book....and...
