"In order to define art correctly, you need to cease to consider it as a means to pleasure and to consider it as one of the conditions of human life. Viewing it in this way we cannot fail to observe that art is one of the means of intercourse between...

Very nice stuff everyone. Works great in b/w or color. Cyber Cat, to me, very tasty yummers! I duped, changed to difference, applied Blend If/Gray This 0/94 107/255 Under 0/191 118/255 and Blend If/Red This 204/255 Under no change.

Although I did a horrendous job, perhaps you can get reasonable results by duplicating your background then Image:Adjustments: Invert and change to Luminosity. Try using Blend If to bring some info from above and below and painting back on a grey overlay layer everything except the skin.

Carmilla, I think the skin tone is lovely. My only concern would be the 0,0,0 in some of her hair and boots. If you were able to bring it up to say 12,12,12 you might see a bit more information. Otherwise, great job. Also, some here might like to know your methodology.

Perhaps a little more attention to the skin just above the lip.

You might try Select:Color Range. Click anywhere on the water and you can increase the tolerance to include more of the water (whiter). This may also select some sky but don't worry. Click OK and your pic will have areas selected with marching ants. Use Alt-Lasso to unselect areas of the photo u don't...

Wouldn't the length be proportionate to the resolution? To me, something of more value might be to have Curves also equated to Camera F stops. I still think of exposure in those terms.

Nice Butch. Also, the magic wand isn't very sophisticated. You might have more success using the Extract Tool on the subject and then inverting to pick out the background.

Although CS is limited as to how much you can correct raw images, since you shot in Raw mode, there is usually more info than you realize in the highlights. I would stay in Raw mode as long as possible for my corrections before converting to tiff, jpeg, whatever.

Was playing with Image Analyser program and came across a filter called Statistical Image Enhancement. Plunked in a value of 2.0.
