I scan as linear (flat) as i possibly can up against the contrast in the film. Often i photograph targets in the light i want to render perfectly and make my own scanning presets who i again fine adjust when scanning.

I will still advocate tha the JG-style is best when shooting similar to JG. Same light, backdrop and film and scanning. Today i did this contactsheet. Not much i need to do when i have selected the frames i like and drumscan them. The job in photohop...

I know for sure, that one female world famous photographer, on certain projects is printing on thick matte paper in real offset and then eigther repro photographing the prints or drumscan them, just for getting the look the OP in this thread...

The Leibovitz frames Donamai referded to, was shot on film. The b&w on Polaroid 55 and the colorshot by the car on old Portra. The BW was natural light, the colorshot lighted with a weak softlighter.

I looked at the pictures you linked to. Some was, for me, just plain digital photos with no special colour look. But some was very pleasing, and when i go for colours like that, i shoot Portra film and expose a bit over and carefully...

Here is a brand new one. And i also upload a mms photo og the papercopy which was analouge optical printed. Ill guess this will explain how much the lightening quality means.
Workflow: Studio setup as usual for this type of photo....
