Thanks for the compliments. I noticed the tutorial didn't get a very high rating for clarity, so if anyone wants to point out parts that were unclear or confusing, I will rewrite them so they are more easily understood. Thanks.

    Hi Ed_L,

On my pc, 96 seemed to be the point where the right underlying layer slider caused the underlying color to force through. At 97, I could still see the gradient, but at 96 the image turned blue. So, if you round 95.3 up, that seems to be close.

    Interestingly enough,...

While I'm at it, let me ask some other questions on sharpening. It's my understanding that one should use different technques for different situations or effects (duh) but I not clear on which ones work best for which.

Since sharpening is a matter of personal taste, that's a hard question...

Unfortunately, that seems to be another of the annoying mistakes in the book. You can get the Sharpen Plus tool to work if you turn off the visibility on all the layers except the Luminosity layer. However, when I tried to use the Sharpen Plus tool, I never could get results that were any good, so...

    Hi,

I don't know how to use several of the tools on the free tools download.

No, there isn't--but you're free to ask away. I could probably help you with all the tools or point you to articles explaining them. So, I suggest you post your specific questions.

    I would say no.

I don't know if you've read the book or not, but you have to save the CMYK plates as separate files or in a DCS file because "Elements won't handle CMYK channels"(p.142). The instructions say you have to save "to Photoshop TIFF, CMYK"....

    Restoration category?

    Hi,

My tutorial was put in the Restoration category for some reason. None of the techiques I discuss in the tutorial have anything to do with restoration. How can I get the tutorial moved to the Retouching category?

    screen capture of the cursor?

    Hi,

Does anyone know how to get a screen capture of the cursor? My screen captures do not include the cursor, and sometimes I would like to include that in an image.

    I use win98.

    Thanks.

    Leah,

I often direct people to your "Smart Sharpening for Elements" tutorial, but the images don't display. Any chance you could get those to work, so people aren't put off by the tutorial?

I've got everything sorted out now. I can't really tell what went wrong with the font, but suddenly it started working. I guess I should make a post in the discuss section of the tutorial on "How to make tutorials" to outline all the problems I had and the things I did wrong. What an o...

    Help

I can't get the font size to work. There is a complete disconnect between what I am doing in the editor and what gets published.

The first problem is the font size does not appear the same size when you publish it--it's much smaller. Ok, so you have to go up to...
