On thing I noticed on the original post, you said you scanned your image as high as your scanner could (2400 dpi).
That probably caused the scanner to interpolate the image. Most scanners claim to scan higher than they can actually scan.
I would try scanning it again...

You have some nice work there, but two suggestions on the website.
One, I'm on a high speed connection, and yet I was having to wait a noticeable amount of time each time I clicked on a photo and also when I hovered to see the original.
Consider going with a faster host....

I totally agree with the fact you reversed her position, it fits the hills direction much better.
But by doing that, you reversed her shadows. Notice on her neck, the shadow from the hat is going to the left, while the rest of the pictures shadows are going to the right.

The color is pretty much gone at this point. You aren't going to be able to restore that. Your red channel is completely non existent on this photo.
I did a crop of the faded areas, desaturated, then redid the levels to get as far as I did.
From here I would do more defined...

You did a very nice job. I agree with your decision to remove the distracting images to the left and right of the picture.
The only thing that caught my eye, was her left eye seems a touch crosseyed.
