Scary stuff and so destructive, at least for the short term...meaning at least 50 years or so. It's hard to think for that long term though. So for the present, I'm hoping that cleanup and life is restored quickly for all involved.

The sample you provided is very small and any attempt to upsize was met with the splotchy appearance of your second shot. If you can scan them in a larger size and or format, removing the noise/damage is very easy. This can be accomplished...

Although I'm late replying to this, here is my two cents worth. The shots are probably initially taken with a color checker and gray cards. That makes it easier once the photographer gets the lighting right to minimize post processing....

I agree that this type of "art" is interesting; but I guess I'm more of a literal photo manipulator than someone who thinks this far outside the box. I kept thinking that what happened to those pictures was tragic. Sorry. Just me.
