Hello K and Looker. It's good to hear from everybody. I just might try one of the challenges when I have not too much to do. Not really sure if I can do much anymore.

    Re: No, I'm not dead

Thank you for the nice replies. It's almost like I never left.

CJ, I haven't done much with Photoshop for some time. I still have Photoshop 7, and I do use it on occasion. But I'm way out of practice, and I'd feel like a total beginner if I were...

    No, I'm not dead :)

It's been quite a while since I've been on the site, but I thought I'd say hello to some of the people I remember. Of course there's Doug, Flora, Chris, CJ, Danny, and Janet. There might be others still active, but these are the names I saw in just a few minutes of browsing. So "Hi folks!"...

    Hi Sheri,

I haven't been online for a couple of days, so I'm just now seeing your thread. One thing I would highly recommend is that when you scan a photo, immediately save it as a read only file. Then you can work on it and save under a different file name. If you do that, you'll always...

    Hi AmyR,

Welcome to RP. Since you're a pro photographer, you know there is a copyright on the photo, and you need a release from the holder of the copyright to do anything with it.

Having said that, it looks like the biggest part of the cake, and the items on the table...

Could you be running low on resources? I'm not certain, but there was a recent post that suggested something similar to what you're describing.

The layers above will not alter the lower layer. Are you making duplicates of the background layer, then moving them? If you...

I'm glad I came in late on this one. Instead of putting in a lot of time trying to get it right, now I can just try the great techniques posted here. Thanks for doing all the hard work!

I just talked to my son-in-law. He seems to think that by booting through the CD, you would need a command string to enter. Is that right? He said he would like to boot up the computer to where he can enter a command line to be able to get into the system restore (or something like that. ), so we...

Thank you Murray. I'll wait to see if I can get my son-in-law over sometime soon. He is much better at that stuff than I am. I'll print out this thread, and he can read it. Thanks again to everyone.

I very much appreciate all the help. Once before, my username/password became corrupted. That was quite a while ago, and I don't remember what the fix was.

Murray, Ctrl+Alt+Delete did bring up the dialog box. But it would not accept my username/password as being correct. Corrupted again???...

I do have 2 profiles set up, and all was O.K. until about 4 days ago. For some reason, my usernames no longer show up when the computer boots up. Being so, I cannot do *anything* with that computer because I can't load my personal settings or any other settings. There's no way I know of to get into...

    Computer question

I've been having a problem with my computer. I'm running Windows XP Home edition, and when you boot up the computer, you get the message "To begin, click on your username". The problem is that for some reason, no username is available to click on, thereby making the computer useless with the...

  • Back during the days of WW2, and maybe WW1, soldiers in the field sometimes used coffee during processing to obtain a sepia effect. Chemicals were not easily obtainable, such as those used in the darkroom.

I'm a long, long, long way from being an expert. But I'd suggest that if you are going to have a lot of negs/slides, you will probably be better off with a dedicated scanner for that. Having said that, I also have the Epson 3200 Perfection. It does a good job of taking care of my needs, both prints...
