Hi there,
A couple of friends of mine are morning show hosts on a local radio station--they would like to spoof one of the movie posters for the new Twilight film (http://static.newmoonmovie.org/bdm/i...wn-poster1.jpg for example).
The only problem...

Capture One Pro 6
I downloaded the 30-day trial of PhaseOne's Capture One Pro 6 after Natalia mentioned on her DVD that she prefers it for several reasons, including its tools for working skin tone.
I was wondering...do you use it? And if so, what do you consider its best features? I've only been using...

Hot Skin, Not Blown Out
First, I realize there is a thread a few steps down about blown out highlights. This seems to be a common retouching issue. However, I think my question is different, which is why I've started this one.
I'm working on a portrait for a friend and what I'd like to do is de-emphasize the...

3D in Photoshop - Can it be used for retouching?
Hi all,
Hi all,
I have been playing with PS Extended's (I have CS5) 3D capabilities, and I was wondering whether I could use it to create a relief map of a face (and how). Then I could theoretically "apply makeup" in a more realistic way than if I was just approaching...

Best way to replace color
So I've been asked to change the color of this pushpin to something akin to PMS 151 (RGB 247/127/0)... I tried using a variety of techniques (replace color, HSL layer, curves + mask, inverting channels in LAB mode, etc.) but none were satisfactory.
What do you think is the best way to...

Wayward Pinky
Hi all,
I'm working on this picture for a friend, and I'm trying to figure out the best way to move her right pinky finger up a bit...right now it looks a little distracting.
Do you see what I mean? I've thought of copying/free transforming and then repositioning the finger,...

Selective Color
Particularly with respect to skin tone, I often see people here suggest using a Selective Color adjustment layer. This makes perfect sense, though it kind of took me by surprise because it doesn't seem that there's a lot of "how to" material on this tool out there. Most often I see Curves...

Re: The demystification of dave hill! let's all he
Just for fun....I'm throwing this one out there. Took this pic of my friend Erin last night. Kinda sorta maybe in a similar vein? :-)

Color Correcting Skin Tones
Hi all,
Some of you may have seen my post about male retouching a couple of days ago ("GQ Look")...this picture is from the same series. The colors were so weird and I've had a hell of a time trying to get the skin tones to look natural. In the end I went for a high contrast...

Re: another how was this done?
These effects remind me of several of the actions from the Totally Rad Actions set (e.g., Grandma Tap Shoes or Pool Party). I have had the sets for a while and LOVE to play with them. The creator has a really nice site where users can upload pics with their...

Animated Look
Every once in awhile I'll see a movie poster where the actors have been retouched so heavily that they look almost animated or painted. I imagine it's a lot of smoothing and dodge/burn on a well-lit image(dare I say not unlike Dave Hill or Joey L), but in these particular cases the effect is so strong...
