    Re: Make-up / the law / retouch

I cant comment on the legal situation but, in the UK, advertising is overseen by the avertising standards authority who have the power to ban adverts that are misleading.

    Have a look at this

    Re: I'm stuck with skintones

If you open the Info pallette (F8) you can check the colors of the image you like and use curves to approximate them. This is a quick edit matching the colors on the forehead. It needs a bit of macro dodging but the tones are almost there....

  • Re: How do I get consistent skin tones across a sh

Sorry about that. Of course, Chain is right, you dont need to convert to CMYK to check skin tones as CMYK values in the info panel. And working in CMYK is slower and has several other disadvantages....

  • Re: How do I get consistent skin tones across a sh

    You could try this

    1. Convert to CMYK
    2. Identify a reference image with the skin tones you want to achieve
    3. Using eye dropper, sample about 3 areas -e.g light tone skin, dark skin (in semi shadow) and cheek...

    Re: Replacing images backgrounds....

As a photographer I can tell you that, if a retoucher pointed out to me that fly away hairs are a time consuming to deal with, I would not be insulted. I would also be completely comfortable with a retoucher satying to me that shots on white or grey...

  • Re: The demystification of... Vogue colour?

Leaving aside petty squabbles, the point made by John Wheeler about histogram peaks is crucial. We must remember the role of stylists (who choose the wardrobe) and makeup artists (who choose a look to compliment the wardrobe). The choice of...

  • Re: How do they achieve this look and color?

    Ah! UK Vogue.

The traditional way is E6 (slide) film processed in C41 chemicals and a natural light leak in the camera. It can be emulated in digital but it has been done so many times I have to ask ; why?

How long do you think it will it take me to like Terry Richardson's "style". After all "Ars longa vita brevis".

I do think that his images are successful because he shoots some of the best...

Re: right to use image - BNTM

In that case I would say you are being ripped off. BNTM makes a fortune out of selling the rights to this program. Is it true that they are paying £1 for this??????

It doesn't even look like you are going to get any free exposure and the indemnity...

I hope you were paid handsomely for this. Interestingly the NUJ guide prices do not include usage license for "the period of copyright", only for single transmissions.

    This may help

    Re: Need Any Photos Retouched?

I believe most, if not all, of Eisenstaedt's pictures are copyright Time Life/Getty images. I assume the website mentioned prints these under license. Downloading them and removing the watermark is almost certainly and infringement of copyright.

    Re: Skin tone

You will hear over and over again that D&B is the best way to go. That is true as it achieves good skin but retains texture. But there is a long way between a several hour retouch using D&B and a blurred mess.

One of my favourite quick methods is to...

    Re: Background removal

You could suggest to the owners that they buy a Lastolite Hilite or similar. You put the strobes between the layers of fabric and bang! instant white background without the need for PS. A large softbox at the front to light the subjects and you are sorted.
