    Remember FishMauler?

I happened upon one of his galleries quite by accident the other day - really exceptional work if I do say so myself...and no...I'm not him with a different identiity...

  • So Doug - are the larger resolutions available on the 3200 (above 300 dpi) primarily for scanning negatives rather than prints? I have beenb scanning my negatives at hardware maximum without interpolation but prints at a much lower resolution.

    replied to Question re-installing XP
I believe that XP determines whether you are installing on a second PC or not based on looking at the combination of your CPU, graphics card and hard drive, and somehow hashing a unique ID from that. If you are merely installing a second hard drive, you should not have a problem. Please let us know...

I use levels to change day into night - by forcing the left slider way way past its usual range....

I use a a7" Samsung Syncmaster 170T and a NEC 18" LCD. I like both of them but prefer the Samsung - partially because of the DVI interface, and partially because it is so sharp and clear.

No - the head size is good. I think this composite worked pretty well all over.

One small quibble - the skin color on his face is not quite the same as the rest of the body - particularly under the brim of the hat. Either this area should be darkened a bit or maybe a shadow line from...

  • Lovely work, jch. I particularly like the contrast on the street - and the Van Gogh sky works really well in this shot.

  • Danny - your second b&w attempt here is outstanding. As you know, I like to take a bash at aircraft pictures like this - that is a great technique.

No - the drivers are not generic. You will need to get updated drivers from the manufactuer's site. You will need to know what your operating system is (XP), and the exact model of your scanner. That should fix the problem.

Yes - good point - the original triplane was sitting on its wheels on the ground - a slight reangling might improve it. Thx.

Thank you. The 5 pictuires are the sky, the triplane, the plane and smoke (tailspin), the pilot, and the scarf.

The sky was the first layer and is just a photo I took on Sunday of the sky over Vancouver - increased contrast for more drama.

The second layer is a flash lit...

Hey man. I don't think it looks too bad. The shadow is slightly off but not so you would notice it if you did not know. I think the problem is that the pose is a bit wooden for a candid shot which is what this looks like.

A subtle adjustment of exposure with levels or curves would...

Yes - I use a card reader too for my downloads - so maybe USB 2.0 not such an issue.
