Ha, the title makes this thread sound really exciting but it's not, just an informal comparison between two cameras I am currently using.
For the past couple of years I have been using a non-DSLR Nikon Coolpix L810 for general shooting. My favorite feature on this camera is the huge zoom...

Revive your old 35mm with digital cartridge
What a shame I missed this opportunity. It appears that I would have got this digital system at a huge discount if only I had bought a couple of days ago. RE-35 Digital Cartridge

I need feedback on the good/bad/ugly opinions on a Canon Rebel t2i.
Primarly, I want to use the camera for model, landscape and nature (ducks, geese, any thing that quickly moves) images. Mostly this camera will be used outdoors. Any feedback or opinions will be greatly ap...

Panasonic DMC-FZ20 vs. Canon XSi
I'm trying to decide if the expense of a Canon XSi w/a second $300, or thereabouts, zoom lens would be a good buy. I already have a Panasonic DMC-FZ20 which is a 12X optical zoom with a 35mm equiv. 36-432. I have the money for the XSi already set aside, but am now wondering if it will give me much...

Number of activations?
I recall using some software utility that, among other things, reported on how often the camera had been activated, if that's the right term. In other words, photos taken or shutter opened. I can't recall what it was. Anybody know of such a thing?
Thanks,
Will

Which Camera & Glass? I know what I want to shoot.
I'm currently using a Kodak EasyShare DX7630 but am becoming increasingly more frustrated with its limitations, especially the auto color correct (that cannot be turned off).
Our businesses are upgrading and we're about to bring in quite a bit more stock. I will be shooting jewelry (no...

Are on-camera histograms trustworthy?
According to Deke McClelland (Photoshop CS2 Mastering Camera Raw, "Shooting Considerations" if you subscribe to lynda.com), on-camera histograms can't be trusted when you're shooting raw, because they "measure the results of JPEG-type presets [that would be] applied to the raw image,...

Nikon SB600 biannual service?
I got an SB600 recently, and the manual suggests sending the unit back to Nikon for a checkup every couple of years.
Is that really necessary? If it is, why? And what does it cost?
Cheers,
Will

Need help buying glass
I will be getting a 40D soon!!
I've decided against the sketchy kits on eBay. So I'm thinking of buying the body only and then 1 maybe 2 lenses either local or online. I think I could convince my wife in letting me get away with spending about $1300. This includes a case and memory....Last edited by Rohape; 08-21-2008, 10:02 PM.

Best lens cleaning products / methods?
I used to take my Nikon film cameras to the Nikon place in New York, where someone from Japan would clean the camera and lens, check the shutter, etc., free. I was apprehensive about taking some cleaning solution to those nicely coated lenses.
What do you recommend as good ways to clean...
