I recall using some software utility that, among other things, reported on how often the camera had been activated, if that's the right term. In other words, photos taken or shutter opened. I can't recall what it was. Anybody know of such a thing?

I've decided against the sketchy kits on eBay. So I'm thinking of buying the body only and then 1 maybe 2 lenses either local or online. I think I could convince my wife in letting me get away with spending about $1300. This includes a case and memory....

I used to take my Nikon film cameras to the Nikon place in New York, where someone from Japan would clean the camera and lens, check the shutter, etc., free. I was apprehensive about taking some cleaning solution to those nicely coated lenses.
